Persians in America

You should check out News21 (www.newsinitiative.org), part of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education. Five of the nation’s top schools, including Columbia, Berkley, Northwestern, Harvard and USC, are participating.  The project, entitled "Faces of Faith in America," includes in-depth reporting, video, audio, applications and database analysis. The fellows are using new technologies to show that the journalism schools can play an important role in the digital transformation of the U.S. news business by preparing students with both multimedia skills and the enterprising spirit needed in a changing news industry.  Already, material from this summer’s fellows have been picked up by public broadcasting outlets, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly.

Specifically, check out PERSIANS IN AMERICA

http://newsinitiative.org/project/the_new_americans How do Persian immigrants’ perspectives on faith those of their relatives back in Iran?
It’s a story on how three or four immigrant families in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, preserve and practice their faiths (Islam, Baha’i Judaism and Zoroastrianism) compared to how families in Iran do so under a theocracy.

We look forward to engaging with you and others in the blogosphere about our work on the News21 site.
