The road to Tehran-A COMING WAR

Tagged:

I have spent the last two weeks recovering from stomach surgery and have been talking with a lot of friends on this subject and came to this conclusion.
The rumbles and drumbeats of war are slowly starting to grow the road to Iran seems clear.
The truth is Iran wants a nuclear bomb and there is nothing from what I can see will persuade them to change curse. The fourth round sanctions passed last month won't truly hurt Tehran even the far-reaching sanctions adopted by the U.S. and its allies against Iran are likely to change Iran's behavior As is expected World power and Iran are to resume talks in September but assuming Iran remained defiant in the face of sanctions, there won't be any deals made only stalling so they can secretly continue constructing a bomb.

30 Years Since the Iranian Revolution

The 30th anniversary of Khomeini's return to Iran should be something we all take the time to reflect upon. From thinking about what the role of the US--and the West generally--has been in Persia, (supporting the Shah; hosting Khomeini...), to what the Iranian model and experience says about what the possibilities are in Pakistan, to what neo-purist interpretations of Islam have meant for the world at large today, the list is endless.

Here's a flashback from a BBC journalist:

Persepolis

I don’t know what it is about Iranian writers, especially female Iranian writers, but they have this capacity to tell stories in ways that reach deep into my chest and rip my heart right out.

First, it was Azar Nafisi’s Reading Lolita in Tehran. Then, it was Azadeh Moaveni’s Lipstick Jihad. Now, it’s Marjane Satrapi’s work Persepolis.

I just finished the film based on Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel. If you haven’t seen this movie, don’t miss it. I loved it, enough so that I'm ordering the original novel now.

How'd we miss this?

From IHT.com:

TEHRAN, Iran: Iran's official news agency says dozens of hardline students have broken into the British Embassy residence in Tehran.

The IRNA agency says the students accuse Britain of supporting Israel's air assault on the Gaza Strip.

According to the agency, the students stormed the compound Tuesday evening and pulled down the British flag.

IRNA says the students then hoisted a Palestinian flag at compound's entrance before police forced them to leave.

The news agency says the break-in lasted about an hour and that the area is now calm. No injuries were reported.
