WANNA DRESS LIKE A MUSLIM? SURE SHUKR.
I hope I don't expose Progressive Islam's true colors by saying this, but don't you think SHUKR has cornered the modern, hip, modest, AND educated Muslim/a look to a "T"? Much the same way Banana Republic for a while had that whole business casual metro sexual man purse market on lock-down.
Since fashion is one of those ultra-examples of semiotic you-to-can-become-the-sign-itself-with-these-jeans, i thought this might tie in some how.ÂÂ
Not to mention that woman's outfit here is to die for, and dare I say, hot as hell. So much for modesty being about coverage. I tried to tell them. Nudity, now THAT is unsexy!

I deleted the comment/post. Not because of its content, but rather because simply posting an article with no commentary related to the original post is not a "comment." The user should register, get a user blog and post the articles he wants there. We err on the side of free speech here. So Mr. Cohen, whoever you are, feel free to repost the article but after registering and creating your own user blog. We all have the option of not reading your user blog. But who knows, maybe he has something to say that we have not considered? Maybe he is entertaining or even interesting? He's going to have to show us the goods!

Hey your all
Hey your all pretty…sarcastic. I’m converting soon when I have done enough revision. And when i do i will buy my clothes from shukr to begin because i think their trousers and skirts are damn cute. i do think they cud diverse a bit with the patters on the tops and what not. they may be conservative but that doesnt necessarily mean boring
For those looking for
For those looking for modern, modest clothes that have a bit more flare you should check out Al-Farah. They have a website as well as a retail store in Anaheim, CA. They also have the most beautiful hijabs!

Al- Farah’s got some cute stuff, but Shukr’s stuff is better designed and better constructed. Al-Farah’s got better prices, however.
I watched a documentary
I watched a documentary about life in Iran on PBS educational television, which included a visit to a store for women's clothing. From a distance, the chadors all look alike, and appear as black shrouds. But actually, each chador is uniquely designed in a subtle fashion to appeal to the natural desire for diversity and style. I found the segment interesting.
Human ingenuity always finds a way to overcome restrictions and limitations.
P.S. – I learned that chador comes from a word which means "tent."

You know, as I travel about,
You know, as I travel about, I will often pass by conservative young
Muslim women in traditional attire of hijab, or whatever is conservative in
her country, and, as we pass, I give her a big, warm, friendly, fatherly
smile (I am almost 60), and I can see that they feel very good by such
a gesture of acceptance in this otherwise zenophobic world of ours.
I believe my smile wells up from my knowledge of many religions,
cultures, peoples, languages, and historical periods, and communicates
to the other that we are not different. I smile at them because I am them,
in that I understand something of what it is to be them, and see the
world through their eyes.
I observe the same reaction when I, a Causian, smile warmly at an
African-American, and radiate to them my feeling that we are the same,
and I am happy to see them, or speak with them.
I am reminded of that old song from the 1970s,

So, if you ever wonder why Sitaram came here, and has stayed;

Ilan. Suggestion. I have a few years of webmaster experience, running phpBB forums. If you ever need someone to delete spam, I visit here several times a day, every day. If you need someone to delete the spam posts, I am happy to do that.
You have my word I would only delete spam, and hmmm… you could even have a holding area and audit trail of my deletes. You have my word I would never use my secret power on any post other than pharmacy/cheesecake spam.
Come to think of it, since we have so few active bloggers here, you could impliment something to allow each of us to delete spam, with a holding area and an audit trail, an no power to edit the posts of others, but only to delete them. This sounds like a feasible solution. If someone misuses their power, then they will pay some consequences. So abuse of power would be very foolish and immature.
Plan B - Only allow
Plan B – Only allow registered trusted users to use links in posts. The whole, and sole, power of the spammer is the hyperlink. Take that away and the spammer is de-clawed.

Easier than that. if we click through to the registered user who made the post with the spam, all we have to do is block that one user. We can just block them as they come up, so we only get first time spammers. It really blows my mind that they can get computer programs to do this! Or are these actual people? This most recent spam was coming out of Russia. Maybe its just work, you know, like telemarketers? God help them.

I’m going to post this in an announcement soon, but I’m probably going to upgrade us to Drupal 5 very, very soon. Like, next week soon. I’ll implement some new policies and additional stuff then, including perhaps the use of a captcha again and some more stuff. Sucks that I have to do this, but I guess it’s necessary.
Sitaram, thank you for the offer; if this persists, I may well take you up on it.

Should you choose to grant me some moderator power, I promise to exercise it with ethical dignity.
Now I am curious about Drupal 5, which I presume is what powers this message board. I have installed phpBB, and participated in Vbulliten boards.
I know that the big problem with phpBB (which is free) is that amatures install it, and do not keep up with upgrades/patches, and so their board becomes easy victim to hackers.
That is why leasing a board from professionals has certain advantages.
Here is one free open source message board which may be solid.
http://www.simplemachines.org/
I say this because a heavy forum master I know switched to it.
I know the webmaster of myfreeforums.org which is phpBB based, and his is a full time job keeping all the hosted forums free of hackers and spammers. He has hardware devices as well as software patroling the security of the servers.
And no matter what you use, someone always seems to find an exploit or weakness, which then needs a patch.

Message Board Hosting:
I became curious to find a host that I saw two years ago. Couldn't find them, but found this which is interesting to explore, to see the various styles of boards. And they have an impressive list of client organizations.

I went looking for free Drupal hosting, but no luck. I was curious to create
board just to test drive it.
I did notice, at the drupal.org site, the comment that most hosts run
php in "safe" mode, which interferes with the performance of drupal.
This makes me wonder if Drupal is plagued by exploits inherent in
php, such as code injection (not that I know much about any of this.)

Testing Drupal5:
Someone at drupal.org claims that drupal runs fine at a free site at
http://5gigs.com/
and you get 5 gigs of space.
So, here is an idea. Sign up for a free account there, and then upload your upgrade to drupal5. Test it out, use it as a backup, and testing ground. And for a few dollars a month you could get much more disk space and bandwidth.

All I could think to call them is "crazyquilt"
Wikipedia calls them "reverse Turing tests".
Alan Turing was a gay man whose mathematical genius helped
crack the German cryptology code, which helped win World War II.
After the war, Turing committed suicide because he was so
persecuted for being gay.
Turing tried to invision a test which could prove, NOT that someone was
a human and not a computer, but rather that a computer had
achieved such a true artificial intelligence that no amount of questioning
it would reveal that it was a machine and not a person.
